Lieutenant General Gyllensporre is a Senior Advisor at BOKA and a retired Lieutenant General of the Swedish Armed Forces, having served as Chief of Defence Staff from 2014 to 2018. In that capacity he led the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters and Special Forces and served as Commandant General in Stockholm, with prior senior appointments including Chief of Policy and Plans, Chief of Staff of ISAF Regional Command North in Afghanistan, and senior posts within the European Union Military Staff in Brussels and the Swedish Ministry of Defence. From 2018 to 2021 he served as Force Commander of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), for which he was appointed an Officer of the French Legion of Honour. In 2024 he was created Commander Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Sword by His Majesty The King of Sweden. Since 2025 he has chaired the board of the Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), NATO's principal vehicle for fostering dual-use technology across the Alliance. He holds a PhD in policy analysis and governance from Maastricht University and an MBA from Warwick Business School, is an associate professor at the Swedish Defence University, and has been a Visiting Fellow at Pembroke College, Oxford. He supports the firm and its portfolio companies through informed analysis of European and transatlantic operating environments, multilateral acquisition pathways, and the long-term trajectory of dual-use innovation across NATO and partner nations.
